Thermal Pyrolysis of duckweed to make natural gas is extremely inefficient and dangerous. Duckweed contains a lot of water so too much energy is wasted drying the material. Pyrolysis takes place at more than One Thousand Degrees, Fahrenheit. The equipment must be made from exotic, high temperature materials and a licensed operator is often required.
We have perfected a cold process that takes place in water, eliminating all the excess costs and dangers of thermal pyrolysis. Our LVKN process, embodied in U.S. Patent #7750494, pyrolyzes biomass into fuel while it is still wet and does it using less than 20% of the energy of ANY other process currently available.
This is sugar being turned into Alkanes exclusively by hydrous pyrolysis induced by cavitation. This can also be a better way to make biodiesel than transesterification.
